Teeth Bonding / Tooth Bonding
Serving patients in Omaha and Lincoln in our Omaha, Nebraska office

Teeth bonding can cover imperfections and protect your teeth. Using a composite material, Dr. Beninato can correct a number of different aesthetic problems with dental bonding as an alternative to porcelain veneers or porcelain fillings in his Omaha, Nebraska office.
Dental bonding can serve many of the same purposes as porcelain veneers, but requires less of your original tooth for support. Imperfections that can be corrected with dental bonding include:
Chips and broken teeth
Eating habits, tooth grinding, and trauma can all result in chips or broken teeth. A chipped or broken tooth is often very painful, can lead to decay, may become discolored, and can give the illusion of having crooked teeth. Dental bonding can replace up to half of a tooth.
Cracks
Cracks are not always visible, but can be painful and lead to further damage. Dental bonding fills and covers cracks, stopping the pain and damage in its tracks.
Gaps
Too much space between teeth or a missing tooth can take away from the beauty of your smile and lead to tooth decay. Dental bonding builds up the teeth on either side of the gap, filling in the space.
Small areas of decay
Dental bonding can fill small holes much like porcelain inlays or onlays.
Discoloration
Tooth bonding is a great way to cover a deep stain that is resistant to whitening.
Crooked and misshapen teeth
Dental bonding can be used to correct the appearance of crooked or misshapen teeth by applying the paste and sculpting the surface to the proper shape.
Tooth erosion
Tooth erosion can lead to discoloration, sensitivity, and decay. Dental bonding covers the surface of your tooth replacing the protective enamel that you may have lost.
While the results are similar to veneers, the process is quite different. Dental bonding involves:
- Applying the composite bonding material to your teeth in a paste form
- Sculpting the paste to the correct shape
- Curing, or hardening the dental bonding
- Polishing
In the past, dental bonding was used for functional purposes only, usually to protect the teeth. Today's composite tooth bonding is matched to the natural color of your teeth and is polished to look life-like and resist staining.
