Shayna Mattox, D.D.S., M.S., Pediatric Dentist
Welcome to Your Family Dentist!
Dr. Shayna Mattox wants every child to have a fun and positive dental experience. The best compliment she can receive is when a child says “That was fun!” at the end of the appointment. Dr. Shayna believes in providing each child with a positive experience to ensure they have a lifetime of good oral health. She is committed to caring for her patients with the most advanced, evidenced-based techniques. She loves getting to know each child and their family.
It was in 8th grade when Dr. Shayna first became interested in Dentistry. She attended the Creighton Dental School Career Explorer Program. She graduated with distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry and worked at a public health clinic near the Lake of the Ozarks.
After working at the clinic for 5 years, she realized she especially enjoyed working with children, but found it striking that the most common reason many adults did not seek dental care was due to a frightening experience they had as a child. It was very motivating to her to know that by providing compassionate, gentle care, many of her patients will be setup for a lifetime of oral health and be proud of their smiles!
Dr. Shayna was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She completed a pediatric dental residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital with a Master of Science at The Ohio State University. Dr. Shayna served as the chief resident of her class.
Dr. Shayna is excited to be back in Omaha with her husband Dustin and her rescue German Shepard, Sophie. In her free-time she can be found swimming, boating, traveling, cooking with her husband, and listening to music. Her claim to fame is baking a good apple pie and she frequently travels to the Lake of the Ozarks during the summer. An interesting fact about Dr. Shayna is that she has won the Lake Okoboji Open Water 3.5 Mile Swim 5 times and her dream is to complete a team triathlon.
Dr. Shayna believes that being active in the community she resides in is important. Over the years, she has volunteered in the dental clinic at the VA Hospital in Omaha as well as helped with Red Cross Blood Drives and volunteered at swim meets. In Missouri she volunteered at many rural school health fairs offering free dental screenings and helped with the MO Mission of Mercy and the NE Mission of Mercy.
